Meet the 2019 Scholars

Ezgi ŞİMŞİR
Hello, I’m Ezgi ÅžimÅŸir. In 2019, I had the opportunity to receive one month of language education in London through the EDUC8 project, and to improve myself through a variety of social activities. In 2023, I graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine. I am currently receiving residency training in the Department of Ophthalmology in Ankara.
Thanks to this project, I had the chance to shape my own path and set goals for myself along the way. Back then, I couldn’t even dream of such an opportunity, but now I’m able to take steps to improve myself in many different areas. It will always remain one of the most important experiences
of my life.

İrem ATILGAN
In 2019, I joined the Educ8 Project and had the opportunity to experience a one-month overseas stay in London. At the time, I was studying Computer Engineering and Industrial Engineering at Yıldız Technical University. My goal was to broaden my horizons through this project and to connect with and become part of a community affiliated with CYDD.
Spending a month in London, taking language courses, meeting professionals specialized in my field, and learning about English history and culture was an experience beyond what I could have imagined. It made me realize how vast the world is and how much more there is to discover. Additionally, it helped me see my potential as an individual and increased my confidence in my own decisions.
Currently, I work as a Technology Consultant/Data Scientist at PwC Turkey. I’ve had the chance to get to know the dynamics of medium and large-scale companies across various industries and to design technologies that support these industries using the most up-to-date solutions. The dream I referred to when applying to the Educ8 Project—"to develop technological solutions that can touch and improve people's lives"—is something I am now shaping at a corporate level through artificial intelligence and cloud technologies.
In my free time, I go running, study sign language and Italian, and embark on new adventures by traveling to other countries whenever possible.

Leyla YILDIRIM
While continuing my law education at Dokuz Eylül Faculty of Law, I joined the Educ8 family and project in 2019, which was one of the milestones in my life. This opportunity allowed me to advance in my career and look to the future with hope. The Educ8 project gave me the chance to see how the legal system is abroad in my own department, attend the hearing in the supreme court, to meet lawyers who are experts in their field. This project contributed a lot to me in terms of language, culture, career, friendship and much more. I opened my own law firm for about two year in Izmir province. I continue my professional activities in foreignera; law and other areas of law. In my free time I try to learn new languages and improve myself in my profession. My current goal is to work in international law. Our journey is not yet finished. I would like to thank the Educ8 family for providing us with this incredible opportunity and shedding light on our future.

Åžeyma Nur KARA

In 2022 I returned back to United Kingdom, Newcastle upon Tyne, to pursue Master's of Science in Foundations in Clinical Psychology as a Chevening scholar. Since then I have taken roles in scientific research initiatives, management of psychology related projects, and NGO operations both voluntarily and professionally. I continually and pro bono mentor individual students and students of specific communities such as the Aspire Institute, who are interested in educational and social impact scholarship applications. Currently, I work towards a second Master's of Science degree specializing in Social Psychology at Sabancı University and hold a role as a Business Management Fellow collaborated by One League and Harvard Business Publishing. In my research and practice efforts I focus on promoting mental toughness and resilience among different groups and developing evidence-based intervention programs, with an interest in enhancing organizational resiliency and capacities for effective implementation.
