ABOUT EDUC8 EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM

The Educ8 Program was launched in 2015 with funding from the Turkish Philanthropy Funds. Each year, 4 to 5 young women university students are selected from hundreds of applicants through a rigorous selection process conducted by ÇYDD (Çağdaş Yaşamı Destekleme Derneği).

Initially, the program took place in New York during the summers of 2015 and 2016. In the following years, it was held in London. Due to the pandemic, the program was suspended for two summers (2020-2021) but resumed in 2022 and continues to this day.

​

To be eligible for the Educ8 program, ÇYDD scholarship students must be in their 2nd or 3rd year of university and have at least an intermediate level of English proficiency.

​

The program covers the following expenses for each student:

• 4 weeks of intensive English language studies at Language Studies International (LSI) Central, London (6 hours per day, during August)

• 4 weeks of half-board accommodation at LHA London

• Round-trip flight tickets (Istanbul-London-Istanbul)

• Airport transfers in London

• Local transportation (1-month Oyster card)

• Travel insurance

• Local mobile SIM cards and a weekly allowance for additional expenses

Beyond academics, participants benefit from the support of English-speaking volunteers who accompany them around London. They visit major offices such as Google and Facebook, are assigned mentors in their respective fields, and receive tickets to concerts, musicals, and cultural excursions to museums.

Over the past decade, the Educ8 program has transformed the lives of 34 young women, empowering them to overcome challenges and embrace new opportunities.
